Bridesmaids Tradition
The tradition of having bridesmaids date back to Ancient Rome, where the groom and the bride required 10 witnesses at the wedding by law. Usually, these witnesses were close friends of the groom or the bride, hence the “bridal party” was born.
Bridesmaids and groomsmen had to dress exactly like the groom and the bride, this was to confuse evil and demonic spirits, or even the real-life jealous suitors who might try to harm the couple.
Do the bridesmaids’ shoes have to match perfectly?
No, it is not necessary but most Brides prefer it. However, perfectly matching or coordinating the Bridesmaids’ heels can be difficult, if not impossible. Primarily because most shoe stores do not have a wide range of sizes in any particular style or color readily available. Once they are sold out, they don’t usually restock.
